On the afternoon of October 2, the Second Annual Legal Research fair brought librarians, information vendors, students, and faculty together for fun, information, food, and a chance at our grand prize! (more on that down below)
For the second year in a row, we had great student turnout at the fair to see the librarians and reps from major information vendors talk about the many legal research tools available to VLS students. The librarians talked about many of our new web resources, including our Libguides, the features of the library website (and ARTHUR, our redesigned catalog), and many of our legal database offerings.
Additionally, representatives from 10 of our database providers were there, ranging from the well-known WestlawNext and Lexis Advance to some more specialized offerings such as the Foreign Law Guide, Proquest Congressional, and Leadership Directories.
Pizza was available to attendees who earned enough stickers for visiting the booths, and plenty of candy and home-baked cookies were put out for everyone to enjoy.
Speaking of stickers, we can’t forget about our big grand prize drawing. Attendees who visited enough information booths were entered into a competition for a Kindle Fire HDX.
At the end of the fair, our fearless library director, Viçenc Feliú, chose one of the qualifying game cards to win the prize, and the grand prize winner is:
1L Student Kevin Talbot!
Thank you so much to everyone who attended, to all of the reps who came to talk about their products, and to Facilities and UNIT for helping us set everything up, and most of all to Professor Matt McGovern for organizing it all. We’ll see you all again around this time next year for the 3rd annual fair!
